SD-cards

Folks have reported reasonably good success with most SDHC (and SDXC?) cards, though I believe there are a few brands/models out there that have been problematic. Will try keep a list here of brands/models that users have had success/difficulties with:

General Advice:

  • Stick to big-brands (SanDisk / Kingston / Verbatim)

  • SDHC is recommended

    • WARNING: some SDXC cards work, others don’t

    • WARNING#2: don’t use plain SD / SDSC card, they don’t work

  • Aim for a minimum of 4GB and a maximum of 32GB

SanDisk Extreme PRO 32GB

(SDHC - U3 / C10)

Ok - Works fine for most things, but seems to choke on playback of Mirage’s FMV (Full Motion Video) demos.

This from Amok:

(of the SanDisk Ultra Above) funny because it's max write throughput is limited to ~30MO/s while the Extreme PRO version can reach 90M/s.

However The Extreme version just can't sustain the required bandwidth for video streaming demos.

Ok - I seem to recall it working with FMV (Full Motion Video) demos in the past, but trying it again more recently, no, it’s struggling now :(

Ok - Works fine for most things, but seems to choke on playback of Mirage’s FMV (Full Motion Video) demos.

This from badders73:

I'm on the latest core 0.97 and ROM on a 2024 R6 board. My system simply refuses to play the Duel and Hyper demos. I've tried running them from the Intro 4 disk and mounting them directly. They both get about 20 - 30 seconds in then turn into a garbled mess.
